Buying used construction equipment in Namibia

Walvis Bay is one of the easiest ports on the continent to work with.

Omega Machines · Updated 23 October 2026

Walvis Bay has a reputation among people who move heavy equipment, and it is a good one. It is efficient, it is not congested the way some larger ports are, and the corridors inland from it are used by Botswana, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as by Namibia itself.

What Namibia buys

Mining takes the biggest machines, large excavators, production loaders and site tippers. Road and municipal works take rollers, graders and tippers. Construction in Windhoek and the coastal towns takes twenty tonne excavators, backhoes and mixers. The energy projects take earthmoving and haulage.

Desert conditions

Sand and heat attack two things before anything else, the air filtration and the cooling system. Buy with that in mind, service those two on time rather than when you remember, and keep spare filters on site. It is the cheapest insurance there is.

The corridor trade

If your machine is really going to Botswana, Zambia or the DRC, tell us and tell your agent at the start. A transit movement is documented differently from an import into Namibia.

China or Morocco

China for the price and the choice, which is what most buyers here take. Morocco when you want the machine sooner or you want to see it in person before you pay.

Prices on the page

Every machine shows its price, its hours and its engine before you contact anybody, which lets you compare us against other exporters in minutes rather than days.

Questions from buyers in Namibia

What contractors and mines in Namibia ask us.

Walvis Bay

Do you ship to Walvis Bay?+
Yes, it is the port we use for Namibia and for a good deal of the corridor traffic inland.
What does a machine cost landed at Walvis Bay?+
The machine price is printed on its page, and we add the sea freight to Walvis Bay so you get a single figure.
How long does the sailing take?+
We give you a firm time once you name the machine, rather than a number that turns out to be wrong.
Can I route a machine onward to Botswana or Zambia?+
Yes, but say so at the start so the documents are written as a transit movement rather than an import.
Do you arrange transport to Windhoek?+
No. We finish at loading in the origin port, and the leg from Walvis Bay onward is arranged at your end.

Machines for Namibian conditions

What should I watch for in desert conditions?+
Air filtration and cooling, in that order. Sand and heat take those two long before anything else goes wrong.
What excavator suits mining work here?+
Thirty tonnes and above for production. Our Caterpillar 345GC and 349D are in that class.
What loader suits a Namibia mine or quarry?+
Five tonne rated load and up, built to load trucks continuously rather than in bursts.
What machines do municipal and road works need?+
A single drum roller, a grader, tippers and a mid size loader.
Do you have graders for Namibia road work?+
Yes, a Caterpillar 140H and an XCMG GR1803, both low hour machines with the figures on their pages.

Buying and paying

Who receives payment on a Namibia order?+
Beaumont Investment Group, LLC, our parent company in the United States, which you can verify before sending anything.
What are the payment terms for Namibia?+
75 percent on confirmation and 25 percent before the machine sails for Walvis Bay.
Can I inspect before paying?+
Yes. Both yards are open to you or to an inspector you appoint.
Which documents come with a Namibia shipment?+
The commercial invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading, with you before the vessel reaches Walvis Bay.
Do you publish Namibian duty rates?+
No. They change and your clearing agent will give you the right figure.
Can you keep me supplied with filters and wear parts?+
Yes, and in this climate we would rather you had them on the shelf than ordered them after a failure.
