Shipping heavy equipment to South America

Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia, served from our Qingdao yard.

Omega Machines · Updated 13 September 2026

The Pacific coast is one of the better lanes out of Qingdao, because the sailing crosses the Pacific directly rather than routing through several hubs. Mining and civil work drive steady demand, and used machines from China land here at prices local dealers struggle to match.

Ports we serve

Callao in Peru, Valparaiso, Iquique and Arica in Chile, Guayaquil in Ecuador, and Buenaventura and Cartagena in Colombia.

Bolivia is served through Chile

Bolivia has no coast, so machines arrive at Iquique or Arica and travel overland from there. That land leg is a real cost and needs budgeting alongside the sea freight rather than discovered afterwards.

What sells here

Twenty ton excavators for civil work, wheel loaders for aggregate and mining support, and rollers for road contracts. Our Caterpillar 320D at USD 35,000 and Komatsu PC200 at USD 36,000 are the two that suit this market best.

Questions we are asked

What buyers on the Pacific coast ask about routes, cost and clearing.

Your route

Do you ship construction equipment to Peru?+
Yes, to Callao. Peru is one of the more straightforward destinations we quote to and the run across the Pacific from Qingdao is direct.
Can you send machines to Chile?+
Yes, to Valparaiso, Iquique or Arica. Which one suits you depends on whether the machine stays in Chile or continues overland to Bolivia.
Do you ship equipment to Colombia?+
Yes, to Buenaventura on the Pacific side or Cartagena on the Caribbean side. Tell us where your site is and we will say which entry point makes more sense.
Can you send a machine to Ecuador?+
Yes, to Guayaquil. It is the main entry point for the country and a regular destination on our Pacific sailings.
How do machines reach Bolivia?+
By sea to Iquique or Arica in Chile, then overland. We quote the sea leg and a local hauler handles the land leg, so budget for both from the start.

Cost and machines

How much does it cost to ship an excavator to Callao?+
It depends on the machine and the sailing when you book. Send us which machine you want and we will give you the machine and the freight as one figure.
Is it cheaper to buy a machine from China than in South America?+
Usually by a clear margin, because local supply is limited and priced accordingly. Compare our price plus freight against a local quotation and the gap will speak for itself.
Which machines are most wanted on the Pacific coast?+
Twenty ton excavators for civil work, wheel loaders for aggregate and mining support, and single drum rollers for road contracts.
Can I buy machines for a mining contract?+
Yes, and contract sized orders are normal work for us. Buying several together improves the price per machine and the freight.

Practical matters

How long does the voyage from China to South America take?+
It is a long crossing, though a direct Pacific service is usually quicker than routes that transship. Tell us your port and we will confirm what is actually sailing.
Are there import restrictions on used machinery here?+
Rules differ by country and they can change, so your clearing agent is the right person to confirm the current position before you commit.
Who clears the machine at Callao or Valparaiso?+
A licensed local agent that you appoint. Engage them before the vessel arrives so clearance starts immediately and storage charges never begin.
Do you quote in dollars for South America?+
Yes, all our China stock is priced in United States dollars on an FOB Qingdao basis, which suits this region well.
