Buying a used excavator from China

Low hour Japanese and Korean excavators from our Qingdao yard, with the price on every listing.

Omega Machines · Updated 3 October 2026

Excavators are the machines we sell most of, and China is the best place in the world to buy one second hand. The excavators standing in our Qingdao yard were built in Japan and Korea, carry between 480 and 3,000 hours, and are priced between USD 35,000 and USD 55,000. Each one has its hours, its engine and its price on the page.

The two that surprise buyers most are the Caterpillar 320D at USD 35,000 with 480 hours, and the Komatsu PC200 at USD 36,000 with 863 hours. Both are Japanese built with their original engines, and both would cost considerably more from a dealer anywhere else.

Tracked or wheeled

Tracked machines grip better on soft ground and are what most contractors want for bulk earthmoving and foundations. Wheeled machines drive themselves between jobs at road speed and do far less damage to finished surfaces, which suits road and utility work in towns. We hold both, so tell us the work and we will point you at the right one.

Questions we are asked

What buyers want to know before they choose an excavator and send payment.

What it costs

How much does a used excavator from China cost?+
Our own China excavators run from USD 35,000 to USD 55,000 as they stand at Qingdao, with freight quoted separately once you name your port. The cheapest is the Caterpillar 320D and the dearest is the wheeled Doosan with a blade fitted.
Where can I buy a cheap used excavator?+
China, and specifically from a yard that owns its own machines rather than a broker. That is what keeps the price down, because there is no second margin sitting on top of the first.
Which country sells the cheapest used excavators?+
China, by a clear margin, because of the sheer volume of machines coming off projects there. Japan and Korea built many of those machines originally, so you are often buying Japanese engineering at Chinese prices.
What is the cheapest excavator you have for sale?+
The Caterpillar 320D at USD 35,000. It shows 480 hours, it was built in Japan and it still has its original Cat engine, which makes it unusually good value for a machine at that price.
Do you have any used excavators under 40,000 dollars?+
Yes. The Caterpillar 320D is USD 35,000 and the Komatsu PC200 is USD 36,000, and both are under a thousand hours. Those two move quickly, so it is worth messaging to confirm before you plan anything around them.
What is the cheapest 20 ton excavator you can get me?+
From our current stock it is the Caterpillar 320D. If you want something we do not have, tell us the hour ceiling and the budget and we will go and source one, which is normal work for us.

Comparing your options

Is a Chinese used excavator cheaper than buying one locally?+
Nearly always, and the gap is usually wide enough to cover the freight several times over. Work out our price plus the shipping we quote you, then compare that single number with your local dealer, because that is the only fair comparison.
Should I buy a Japanese excavator or a Chinese one?+
Japanese machines such as Caterpillar and Komatsu hold their value better and are easier to resell, while Chinese brands cost less to buy and less to run. If you intend to sell the machine on in a few years, buy Japanese. If you want the lowest cost per working hour, the Chinese option makes sense.
Can I get a Caterpillar excavator cheaper from China?+
Yes, and this is one of the strongest reasons to buy there. Japanese built Cat machines sold on from the Chinese market reach prices no Cat dealer elsewhere can match, which is how a 320D at 480 hours lands at USD 35,000.
Which used excavator gives the best value for the money?+
Measured by hours left in the machine against the price, the Caterpillar 320D is the strongest thing we have. Measured by ease of finding parts and operators anywhere in the world, the Komatsu PC200 is hard to beat.
Is it cheaper to buy two excavators at the same time?+
Yes. Freight planned as one shipment costs less per machine, and we give a small discount when more than one machine is moving together. Tell us what you are looking at and we will price the pair properly.

Payment and delivery

How do I pay for an excavator I am buying from China?+
Through Beaumont Investment Group, LLC in the United States, which is our parent company rather than an unfamiliar account overseas. Everything is set out in writing before you send anything.
What deposit do I have to pay on a used excavator?+
Seventy five percent up front, which secures the machine and starts the export work. The remaining twenty five percent is due before it ships and must be paid within ten days.
How long does it take to get an excavator from China to my country?+
That depends on your port and the sailing available when you book, so we would rather confirm a real date than guess at one. Send us the destination and we will tell you what is on the route.
How much does it cost to ship a used excavator from China?+
It varies with the port and with whether the machine goes in a container or on a flat rack. A container is usually cheaper but the boom and arm come off first, and we price both ways so you can choose.
