Landlocked, so the decision is really which port you come through.
Uganda has no coast, so every machine arrives through somebody else's port. Mombasa on the Northern Corridor is the usual route to Kampala. Dar es Salaam on the Central Corridor is the alternative and is sometimes the better one depending on where your agent is strong.
The sea leg is the same either way. What differs is the road haul, the border post and which clearing agent you already trust. Decide that first, tell us the port, and the rest follows.
Road and bridge contracts take rollers, graders, tippers and loaders. The oil development in the west takes larger earthmoving machines and haulage. Kampala building work takes twenty tonne excavators, backhoes and mixers. Agriculture and quarrying take backhoes and mid size loaders.
Your machine passes through Kenya or Tanzania before it reaches you, which is a transit movement, not an import into that country. Tell your agent at the start so the documents are written that way from the beginning.
Ask for video of the machine running with the hour meter in the same clip, and send your own inspector if the machine is a big one. Our yards are open to independent inspectors and we would rather you looked than guessed.
Every machine on our site shows its price, its hours and its engine before you contact anyone. That is unusual in this trade and it is deliberate.
What contractors in Uganda ask us.
Mombasa or Dar es Salaam, and the machine you want. We come back with the landed cost to the quay.
