Beira or Nacala, then the road. The port you pick decides most of your cost.
Malawi reaches the sea through Mozambique. Beira serves the south and Blantyre well, and Nacala on its own corridor serves the centre and the north. Both are used, and the right one usually comes down to where your site is and which haulier you trust.
On a heavy machine the road leg from the port is a serious figure, sometimes larger than the gap between two machines you are choosing between. Get it quoted first. It can change which machine is the sensible buy.
Road and bridge contracts take rollers, graders, tippers and loaders. Agriculture and estate work take backhoe loaders and mid size wheel loaders. Quarrying takes excavators and production loaders. Building in Lilongwe and Blantyre takes twenty tonne excavators and mixers.
Away from a big city, the machine that keeps working is the ordinary one whose parts exist. A rare model with a better specification is worth less than a common one you can get a filter for on a Saturday.
Your machine passes through Mozambique in transit and clears in Malawi. Tell your agent at the start so the documents are written correctly rather than corrected later.
We supply parts for the machines we sell and for machines bought elsewhere, and we can put together a stock of filters and wear parts to keep on site.
What contractors in Malawi ask us.
The port and the machine are enough for a landed price to the quay. Price the road leg locally and you have your total.
